Trampoline games
I have wanted to get a trampoline for Speed for a while now. Of course being safety conscious, we decided to wait until the children were 6 years old and their necks were strong enough. The statistics showing severe injuries on trampolines are horrendous. Nevertheless a lot of those injuries can be avoided by having a strong net, and with rules such as only one at a time. We decided on the Springfree trampoline that boasts eliminating 83% of injuries because there are no springs, no solid poles supporting the net and a flexible edge so if you hit it, there is a lot of give.
It is very bouncy. Speed LOVES it. He spends 20-30 minutes at a time bouncing up a storm. He loves it when we toss balls in for him to catch. He goes in about 2-3 times a day. Because there are no solid poles you can launch a ball in there and he completely launches himself off the trampoline and can go flying into the net to catch it without worrying about where he lands.
We thought that maybe the trampoline wouldn’t be as bouncy as regular trampolines because of the lack of springs…wrong. It is very bouncy and everything is very solidly constructed. The netting is excellent, sturdy and zips right up like a tent.
(Actually it would be a fun camp out space and you wouldn’t have to worry about bears!)
I am hoping this will be the perfect break time activity in between Speed’s short lessons. Apparently it is fine in the winter too. We are busy coming up with trampoline games to play on it and jump routines. I am sure he will be doing his multiplication tables in there come September.
Speeds latest trick is to launch a large, soft ball over the net with his behind! I have to get a flip of this to show you. This is not something I could replicate!
