Why Can’t We Be Good?
I was in the playground yesterday with my 5 yo Speed and he had an urgent need to go to the restroom. I had my book in my hand. So he is sitting there contemplating and asks me:
What are you reading?
(I turned the cover towards him.)
Speed: Why - can’t - we - be- good ….Jacob - Needle-man
Speed: What’s it about?
Mum: Well…… it’s about God and there is a little part of God inside of you.
Speed: Will God still be there when I’m six?
Mum: Yes.
Speed: What about ten?
Mum: Yes.
Speed: What about a hundred?
Mum: Yes.
Speed: And when I’m dead?
Mum: Yes.
Speed: But if I’m dead I can’t move.
Mum: Yes, but just your body is dead. Your God part is with you forever.
Speed: You mean, I was born with it.
Mum: Yes.
Speed: From the very beginning.
Mum: Yes.
Speed: I have God in me.
Mum: Yes…and if you are very still you may hear and feel God. He tells you things that you know are good and feel good.
Speed: There is a bit of God inside my body.
Mum: Yes.
Speed: Oh!
(I will do a full book review when I am finished it)
