Birdwatching
I love going on walks with my children and them telling me what birds are around. Somehow I can never remember the different bird calls. I just don’t have the ear for it…except for the Kookaburra!
My children have been going to Two Coyotes every week, an all day Wilderness program where they are getting in touch with nature. They now ask to go outside a lot more and are recognizing plants and birds. It’s been wonderful to watch their appreciation of nature grow. We also signed up to monitor birds this year. We did not do a good job at all. I have to get a lot more organized. I find it difficult to stay on a bird watching schedule….any schedule for that matter!
Never the less, I love to birdwatch and think this is an awesome birdwatching site. If you live in Connecticut you might like to take a walk around Eli Whitney in Hamden. It is a fabulous place to take children as there are birds everywhere. Walk around the river. There are White Herons asleep in the trees, Cardinals and Robins everywhere. Of course, there are a lot more but I’m not an expert. The birdsong is intense. I am going to take a tape recorder next time.
Then I might have a chance at learning the bird calls!
